Job Details
Course Teaching: Faculty Members primarily teach Blended Academic Year in Residence (BAYR) courses using the Blackboard platform. Responsibilities include student interaction via asynchronous Discussion Boards, grading assignments, answering questions, and leading 2 synchronous sessions per quarter. Postings must be completed in a timely manner per the Faculty Handbook. Responses to student questions are required within 48 hours. BAYR courses require asynchronous, synchronous, and in-person instruction. The majority of the course is asynchronous; synchronous sessions are 2 hours per quarter, and 1-2 hours for professional development and advising. Travel is required for the in-person component (7 days in Minneapolis, MN) with 4-5 hours of instruction per day.
Training: New faculty receive training on teaching techniques, platform use, policies, procedures, degree programs, academic integrity, and research supervision. Support from Core Faculty is provided for the first taught course.
Availability: Faculty must be accessible to students outside of class time, providing substantive feedback. Availability should be published through syllabi, classroom information, etc. Online office hours or regular online chats are suggested.
Residencies: Opportunities exist to teach at university doctoral residencies (domestic or international; part-time faculty not required to attend). Intensives and colloquia, and facilitation of school and university-wide discussions are included. Additional stipend is available for these assignments.
Mentoring: Faculty participation in doctoral dissertation committees is expected. Additional stipend available per student mentored.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Doctoral level Psychologist license is required. Earned doctorate in the field or closely related field. Significant record of intellectual and professional contributions to Psychology, with experience in Clinical, Counseling, or School Psychology. Three to five years of teaching experience preferred. Two years or more of online or technology-enabled instruction experience preferred. Two years or more of student research mentoring preferred. Experience with administering, scoring, interpreting psychological assessments (cognitive, learning, achievement, objective, and projective personality). Experience with a variety of psychotherapeutic interventions. Commitment to advocating for adult student needs, applied research promotion, faculty diversity recruitment, excellent leadership, communication, team, and human relations skills. Experience with distance learning preferred. Willingness to travel for in-person instruction.
LICENSURE and/or CERTIFICATION: Appropriate credentials and a Doctoral level Psychologist license are required. License and certifications must be maintained. Currency with research is expected (articles, journals, presentations). Publication of research acknowledging Walden University is allowed if applicable.
Technology Requirements: Adequate computer with electronic learning platform, keyboard, and monitor is required. Microsoft Office products, online meeting software (Teams/Zoom), zip software, Adobe Acrobat, reliable internet access, and alternate access in case of primary access issues.
Compensation: Graduate course instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per quarter/semester, based on course type/length. Undergraduate course instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter, based on course type/length. Actual pay is subject to job-related factors permitted by law.
