Contractor AI Data Scientist

Position: AI Data Scientist (B2B / Freelancer Contract)

Location: Remote open to candidates based in the European Union, Serbia, or Moldova

Role Overview:

• Experienced AI Data Scientist to join their global Centre of Excellence.
• Design, build, and deploy advanced AI-driven and agentic data science solutions.
• Leveraging Microsoft’s AI ecosystem, including Azure Machine Learning, Microsoft Fabric, and Power BI.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of end-to-end data science and machine learning solutions.
• Partner with business and technology stakeholders to identify and prioritize AI opportunities.
• Process and transform structured and unstructured data from multiple sources.
• Design and refine data collection, labeling, and transformation frameworks.
• Develop, validate, and optimize statistical models, machine learning algorithms, and agentic architectures.
• Automate and maintain reusable Azure ML pipelines, data processing tools, and inferencing workflows.
• Communicate insights and findings clearly to both technical and business audiences through Power BI.
• Promote best practices in MLOps, reproducibility, and responsible AI.
• Support continuous model improvement by monitoring performance, retraining, and adapting solutions.
• Collaborate closely with Data Engineers and Architects.
• Maintain documentation, version control, and compliance.
• Mentor junior data scientists.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 5-10 years of hands-on experience delivering data science, machine learning, and AI solutions.
• Expertise in statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and advanced AI.
• Proficiency in Python or R, with experience in Microsoft Azure ML, Synapse Analytics, and Microsoft Fabric.
• Ability to build, deploy, and operationalize machine learning models in the cloud.
• Experience with MLOps workflows and scalable model pipelines.
• Proficiency in data wrangling, feature engineering, and handling complex data.
• Visualization skills using Power BI or similar tools.
• Knowledge of data privacy, governance, and responsible AI practices.
• Excellent communication and mentoring abilities.
• Excellent command of English.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Microsoft certifications such as Azure Data Scientist Associate or Fabric Analytics Engineer.
• Experience with Agentic AI frameworks.
• Familiarity with advanced MLOps automation and continuous learning models.
• Demonstrated success leading or mentoring data science teams.
