This opportunity is designed for economists who want to directly shape the future of artificial intelligence by providing expert data, insight, and annotation across a wide range of economic domains.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with world-class technical teams to train AI models in understanding complex economic reasoning and methodologies.
You’ll apply your expertise in areas such as macroeconomic forecasting, microeconomic theory, behavioral and experimental economics, and econometrics to deliver high-quality, well-labeled datasets that improve model comprehension and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:
- Use proprietary tools to label, annotate, and evaluate data related to economics.
- Provide curated, high-quality datasets for AI model training across macroeconomics, microeconomics, and behavioral economics.
- Collaborate with technical teams to improve model design, refine annotation workflows, and enhance data quality.
- Contribute to the development of new AI capabilities through detailed feedback and analytical reasoning.
- Select and analyze complex problems in your field of expertise to help train models on nuanced economic concepts.
- Interpret evolving task instructions, maintaining accuracy and judgment in execution.
Qualifications:
- PhD in Economics or a closely related field.
- Strong proficiency in written and spoken English, with excellent communication and analytical abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and apply sound judgment with limited information.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Passion for innovation and the advancement of technology in economics.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least one publication in a reputable economics journal or equivalent research outlet.
- University teaching experience or prior academic mentorship.
- Familiarity with AI model training, data labeling, or annotation work.
- Comfort with recording short audio or video segments for research and training purposes.
Work Environment and Expectations:
- This position is based in Palo Alto, CA, or fully remote.
- Team members work from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. PST for the first two weeks of onboarding, then transition to their local timezone.
- Remote employees must use a Chromebook, Mac (macOS 11+), or Windows 10+ device and have reliable smartphone access.
- Visa sponsorship is not available.
- U.S.-based applicants must reside outside Wyoming and Illinois.
Compensation:
- $90,000–$200,000 per year for U.S.-based professionals, depending on experience and location.
- International pay rates are available upon request.
