Opportunity at a Glance Contributing faculty members serve in a part-time capacity to educate Walden University Students. They effectively and proficiently use online technology and resources to impart knowledge, information, feedback, and critique to students through thoughtful, well-written, and timely communications. This is done respectfully towards students, the faculty member, Walden University, and the discipline.
Responsibilities
- Training: All new faculty members receive training from Walden University in teaching techniques, electronic learning platforms, school/college policies, procedures, and degree programs. Training also includes socialization into Walden University culture, assessment of academic integrity (using Turnitin.com), and research supervision of theses and dissertations.
- Course Teaching: Faculty members are assigned a course taught using the eCollege platform. They interact with students within this platform. Discussion boards are open 24/7. Timely postings are required, following the Faculty Handbook. Responses to student questions must be posted within 48 hours. Faculty members verify student postings/submissions, provide feedback, and assign grades through Canvas.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
May perform other duties as needed by management.

Availability
Walden expects faculty to be reasonably accessible to students. Faculty members are expected to be available outside the course discussion board and provide substantive feedback on assignments and postings. Availability is published through course syllabi, instructor information, or other appropriate documents. The university suggests regular availability, like online office hours or regular online chats.
Residencies
Faculty members may attend residencies (domestic or international). Part-time faculty may attend but are not required to. Residencies include intensives, colloquia, and school/university-wide discussions. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience
Earned doctorate in Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA-D), or other areas approved by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB), with a valid Board-Certified Behavior Analysis (BCBA or BCBA-D) certification.
Significant record of intellectual and professional contributions to Applied Behavior Analysis, including experience in the practice of Applied Behavior Analysis.
Teaching experience at the degree level is preferred.
Commitment to advocating for student learning and development needs in a distance learning environment.
Commitment to teaching, advising, mentoring, promotion of applied research, recruitment, and development of diverse faculty. Excellent leadership, communication, team, and human relations skills.
Licensure and/or Certification
Appropriate credentials, earned degree in the discipline taught, and a valid BCBA or BCBA-D certification are required to teach.
Faculty members must maintain licenses and certifications.
Maintain currency with research by reviewing articles, journals, and presentations. Publication acknowledging Walden University is permitted if participating in research.
Compensation
Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per Quarter/Semester. Varies based on course type and length.
Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter. Varies based on course type and length.
Actual pay may adjust based on job-related factors, such as course type, experience, location, licensure, market, departmental budgets, and responsibility. Walden offers dissertation/doctoral study committee chair positions, research reviewing, and dissertation/doctoral study mentoring.
