Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) Specialist
Seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled part-time (up to 20 hours/week) Canvas LMS Specialist to cover an 8-month maternity leave (mid-May 2025 to mid-January 2026). This role will ensure the seamless operation of the Canvas LMS, providing support for engaging and effective online learning experiences. Responsibilities include direct support for Canvas LMS tasks, training, consulting, and collaboration with various teams.
Nature of the Role
- Quickly upskill on our specific Canvas LMS setup and organizational processes.
- Efficiently document all work, decisions, and progress.
- Prepare comprehensive handover notes for a smooth transition.
- Manage complex, ongoing projects with minimal onboarding time.
Key Responsibilities
- Canvas LMS Management and Support
- Manage and resolve global LMS incidents.
- Maintain LMS documentation (best practices, resources, global courses).
- Ensure smooth LMS functioning, building and maintaining the Canvas Features & Updates Tracker.
- Liaise with Canvas LMS for issue resolution.
- Project Management and Collaboration
- Organize meetings and manage action items.
- Collaborate with global and local teams on LMS projects.
- Effectively manage multiple concurrent projects.
- Represent the online learning function internally and externally.
- Canvas LMS Enhancement and Updates
- Create clear documentation for projects, issues, and processes.
- Support LMS tool/platform pilots, collect feedback, and track updates.
- Manage and provide support for LTI tools.
- Global & Local Training and Upskilling
- Design and lead upskilling sessions for global and local teams.
- Support monthly Canvas Country Contact (CCC) meetings.
- Best Practice Alignment & Quality Assurance
- Audit content for best practice alignment and support countries with integration.
- Support tool and course pilots, analyze feedback, and track progress.
- Participate in the Accessibility Allies group.
Crucial Skills
- Extensive Canvas LMS expertise (root account administration).
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving.

- Canvas LTIs (DesignPlus, Ally, H5P, Lucid) proficiency
