Sutherland is seeking a talented Cloud Applications Operations Engineer for a 1-year contract position. Located in/near Atlanta, GA, this role requires working onsite 2-3 times per week at the client site.
Responsibilities:
- Configure backend systems and infrastructures for the global SaaS platform.
- Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the Amazon AWS platform.
- Collaborate with engineers and architects using AWS technologies.
- Deploy, monitor, automate, and support a scalable real-time platform.
- Manage complex Applications hosted on Cloud.
- Support Application maintenance, data processing, and troubleshooting.
- Develop proactive monitoring and alerting services.
- Employ automation using Ansible, Python, and Perl scripting.
- Establish and secure new Application instances.
- Participate in change management, including building deployment patches, fixes, and rollback plans.
- Create and configure deployment scripts for various environments (e.g., Test, Prod).
- Optimize instances and web servers for performance.
- Support and implement solutions to meet customer needs.
- Resolve critical, complex customer problems across multiple AWS services.
- Develop scripts to automate and deploy AWS resources.
- Build utilities and tools for internal use.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of Cloud AppOps Engineer experience.
- Strong experience in Application Support (3-tier and 2-tier apps).
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Experience with APM tools (AppDynamics, Dynatrace).
- Expertise in managing containerized/cloud-based applications (EC2, S3, IAM, ELB, VPC, VPN).
- DevOps environment/operations team experience.
- OS-level knowledge (Windows or Linux).
- Database skills (SQL, Oracle, Postgres/Cassandra).
- Application Server skills (e.g., Tomcat, WebLogic, WebSphere).
- Networking and load balancer knowledge.
- Scripting language experience (Ansible, Perl, Python, Ruby, Shell script, PowerShell).
- Experience with tools like OpsGenie, Nagios, Rundeck.
- Cloud/Application-level security experience (preferred).
- Experience in the Banking & Financial domain (preferred).
- Agile/Sprint development experience (preferred).
