Job Details
Faculty Responsibilities: Educate students effectively using online technology. Provide thoughtful, timely, and well-written communication. Respect students, faculty, Walden University, and the discipline.
Training: All new faculty receive training in online teaching techniques, LMS use, policies/procedures, and program specifics. Training is required for teaching assignments.
First Term Support: New faculty may be assigned a peer mentor for additional support and classroom reviews.
Course Teaching: Faculty teach courses on the LMS, interact with students, and respond to student questions within 48 hours. Maintain online presence (office hours, chats).
Research Mentorship: Provide timely feedback, approval, assessment, and evaluation of student research.
Residencies (Graduate-level): May participate in virtual or in-person intensives and colloquia. Contributing faculty may participate but not required.
Tools/Technical Skills: Strong online teaching and communication skills are essential. Proficiency in APA 7th edition is required.
Travel: Optional travel to university events.
Work Environment: Primarily online/remote, office environment, computer use.
Education/Experience: Terminal degree in Psychology or related field from accredited institution required. 3-5 years of online teaching experience preferred. Experience on doctoral research committees preferred.
Licensing/Certifications: Appropriate credentials and degree from accredited institution required.
Technology Requirements: Personal computer with virus protection and internet access.
Compensation: Varies by course type, course length and experience. (See compensation schedule).
- Graduate Courses: $1,560 - $4,080 per quarter/semester
- Undergraduate Courses: $700 - $2,200 per quarter
