Part-Time Contributing Faculty - B.S. Psychology

About Walden's Student Body: Walden is a broad-access institution with undergraduate, masters, and doctoral degrees. College of Interdisciplinary Undergraduate Studies: This new unit brings together general education and non-licensure B.S. programs (Communication, Psychology, Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Human Services, Health Studies, Healthcare Management, Health Policy, and Early Childhood Studies).

Instruction Modalities: Walden offers undergraduate instruction in two modalities: course-based (6-week terms) and competency-based (subscription model). All modalities are asynchronous.

Essential Duties:

• Provide course instruction as assigned.
• Engage in classrooms at least 4 days a week.
• Facilitate and engage in discussion boards.
• Assess student work and provide timely feedback.
• Be available to students via video chat or phone as needed.
• Occasional additional duties: Course content development, university/school committee service, administrative support, course maintenance.
• Establish a supportive virtual classroom environment.
• Collaborate with colleagues.

Training: New faculty receive training on the Learning Management System (LMS), policies, procedures, degree programs, Walden culture, academic integrity (including TurnItIn.com), and AI use. A faculty peer mentor is provided.

Qualifications:

• Advanced degrees and experience in B.S. Psychology.
• Commitment to fostering empowerment and support for adult learners.
• Experience with diverse adult learners.
• Experience collaborating with faculty and staff.
• Experience building and fostering communities in online environments.
• Online teaching experience is essential.
• Documented contributions to research, thought leadership, and/or scholarship (preferred teaching experience over publication records)

Compensation: Graduate course instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per quarter/semester; Undergraduate course instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter. Actual pay may vary based on factors permitted by law.
