Opportunity at a Glance Contributing faculty members serve in a part-time capacity to educate Walden University Students by effectively and proficiently using online technology and resources. They share knowledge, information, feedback, and critique with students in thoughtful, well-written, and timely communications, all done respectfully.
Training: All new faculty members receive training in teaching techniques, online learning platforms, school/college policies, procedures, and programs. They also learn student work assessment (including Turnitin) and thesis/dissertation supervision.
Course Teaching: Faculty members teach assigned courses on the eCollege platform. Discussion boards are open 24/7; timely responses to student questions (within 48 hours) are expected. Verification of student postings and providing feedback/grades via Blackboard is required.
Availability: Faculty are expected to be accessible to students beyond discussion boards, providing substantive feedback on assignments/postings. Regular availability (e.g., online office hours/chats) is suggested.
Residencies: Faculty may attend domestic/international residencies (optional for part-time).
Other Duties: Comply with all university policies and standards.
Qualifications:
- PhD in I/O Psychology, or related field.
- Significant record of intellectual and professional contributions in I/O Psychology, HR, Organizational Development, and General Management.
- Two years experience as committee chair/second committee member.
- Two+ years of online teaching experience preferred.
- Commitment to student learning and development, advising/mentoring, and applied research.
- Strong leadership, communication, team, and human relations skills.
- 3+ years teaching experience preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, zip software, Adobe Acrobat, and reliable internet access.
Compensation: Graduate course instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per quarter/semester; Undergraduate: $700 - $2,200 per quarter (dependent on the type of course taught and length).
Additional Information: Walden also provides dissertation/doctoral committee chair positions, research review, and dissertation/doctoral study mentoring.
