Job Details
Course Teaching: Faculty Members are primarily assigned Blended Academic Year in Residence (BAYR) courses taught using the Blackboard platform. They interact with students on the platform, engage in asynchronous Discussion Boards, grade assignments, answer student questions, and deliver 2 synchronous sessions per quarter. Postings must be completed timely. Responses to student questions are required within 48 hours.
Travel Requirements: Travel is required for the in-person component of BAYR courses in Minneapolis, MN for 7 days during a 12-week quarter. Faculty should expect approximately 4-5 hours of in-person instruction per day.
Training: New Faculty receive training in teaching techniques, platform use, policies, procedures, degree programs, academic integrity, and research supervision.
Availability: Faculty must be reasonably accessible to students outside course hours. Publish availability through syllabi, classroom information, or other documents. Regular online office hours or chats are suggested.
Residencies: Opportunity to teach at university, doctoral residencies (domestically or internationally). This assignment may offer an additional stipend.
Mentoring: Faculty participate in doctoral dissertation committees; additional stipend available.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Doctoral-level Psychologist license
- Earned doctorate in psychology or closely related field.
- Significant record of intellectual and professional contributions to psychology.
- Experience in clinical, counseling, or school psychology.
- 3-5 years of degree-level teaching experience preferred.
- 2+ years of online or technology-enabled instruction experience preferred.
- 2+ years of student research mentoring preferred.
- Experience administering, scoring, interpreting psychological assessments (cognitive, learning, achievement, objective, projective) preferred.
- Experience with diverse psychotherapeutic interventions preferred.
- Commitment to advocating for adult distance learning student needs.
- Commitment to the promotion of applied research, diverse faculty recruitment, and development.
- Strong leadership, communication, teamwork, and human relations skills.
- Experience with distance learning preferred.
- Willingness to travel for face-to-face instruction preferred.
Licensure and Certification: Maintain appropriate credentials and licenses.
Technology Requirements: Sufficient computer, keyboard, monitor, reliable internet access, and proficiency in Microsoft Office, online meeting software (Teams/Zoom), zip software, Adobe Acrobat.
Compensation: Varies based on course type, length, experience, location, and other factors.
