Opportunity at a Glance Contributing faculty members serve part-time to educate Walden University students using online technology.
Training: All new faculty receive training on teaching techniques, the electronic learning platform, policies, procedures, degree programs, university culture, academic integrity (Turnitin), and research supervision.
Course Teaching: Faculty teach courses on eCollege, interacting with students on discussion boards (24/7). Timely postings and 48-hour response to student questions are required.
Availability: Faculty must be accessible outside discussion boards and provide substantive feedback.
Residencies: Participation in domestic/international residencies (optional for part-time faculty) to teach intensives and colloquia.
Additional Duties: Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- PhD in I/O Psychology or related field.
- Significant intellectual and professional contributions, experience in I/O Psychology, HR, organizational development, or general management.
- Two years as committee chair/member.
- Two years+ online/technology-enabled instruction experience (preferred).
- Commitment to student learning, teaching, advising, mentoring, and applied research.
- Excellent leadership, communication, teamwork, and human relations skills.
- 3+ years of degree-level teaching experience (preferred).
- Adequate computer, keyboard, pointing device, monitor, and reliable internet access.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), zip software, Adobe Acrobat.
- Appropriate credentials and degree from an accredited institution. Possible licensure/certification required/preferred.
- Maintenance of licenses/certifications, research currency, and potential publication opportunities.
Compensation: Graduate instruction: $1,560-$4,080/quarter/semester; Undergraduate instruction: $700-$2,200/quarter. Actual pay may vary based on job-related factors. (Additional opportunities: dissertation committee chair, reviewing, and mentoring).
