Walden University seeks a dynamic, innovative contributing (part-time) faculty member for the Ph.D. in Social Work and the DSW programs.
Key responsibilities:
- Teaching courses
- Mentoring student research
Course Teaching/Availability:
- Courses are taught using the Learning Management System (LMS).
- Interact with students within the LMS.
- Discussion Boards are open 24/7.
- Minimum 4 days/week classroom presence.
- Respond to student questions within 48 hours.
- Regular online availability, such as office hours or chats (may be required).
Research Mentorship:
- Work one-on-one with students.
- Provide timely feedback, approval, assessment, and evaluation of student work.
Residencies:
- Graduate-level faculty may attend.
- Contributing faculty may participate (not required).
Tools/Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with Learning Management Systems and technology.
- SPSS (quantitative) and/or NVivo (qualitative) proficiency is preferred.
Licensing/Certification:
- Appropriate credentials required.
- Earned degree from an accredited institution.
- Maintain licenses and certifications.
- Stay current with research.
Travel:
- Opportunities for contributing faculty to attend university events and residencies.
Required Qualifications:
- Earned Ph.D. or DSW from an accredited university.
- MSW from a CSWE-accredited program.
- Experience sitting on/chairing dissertation committees.
- Significant record of academic/professional contributions.
- Minimum 3 years of degree-level teaching experience.
- Minimum 1 year of online teaching experience (preferred).
- Minimum 3 years post-MSW social work practice experience.
- Commitment to student success and Walden's social change mission.
- Experience with Learning Management Systems and leveraging technology in learning (required).
Technology Requirements:
- Personal computer with virus protection and Internet access.
Compensation:
- Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per quarter or semester.
- Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter.
