Opportunity at a Glance Contributing faculty members serve in a part-time capacity to educate Walden University Students by effectively and proficiently using online technology and resources to impart knowledge, feedback, and critique in thoughtful, timely, well-written communications. College of Interdisciplinary Undergraduate Studies The College seeks contributing faculty in the following areas: Humanities/Social Sciences: History, Sociology, Philosophy, Popular Culture, Sociology, Anthropology, Introductory Psychology. We meet students where they are, supporting their academic and professional goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide course instruction.
- Engage in classrooms at least 4 days a week.
- Facilitate and engage in discussion boards.
- Assess student work and provide timely feedback.
- Be available to students via video chat or phone.
- Course content development
- Service on university committees.
- Support administrative needs within the college.
- Course maintenance
- Establish a supportive virtual classroom environment
- Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors.
Training All new faculty receive training in online teaching techniques, LMS use, policies, procedures, and degree programs. A peer mentor is assigned.

Qualifications
- Demonstrated commitment to empowering adult learners.
- Experience with and dedication to diverse adult learners.
- Experience collaborating with faculty and staff to support positive student experience.
- Appropriate advanced/doctoral degrees and field/interdisciplinary experience.
- Experience building and fostering online communities.
- Online teaching experience (assumed).
Compensation Graduate instruction: $1,560-$4,080/quarter/semester. Undergraduate instruction: $700-$2,200/quarter. Actual pay may vary based on factors such as course type, experience, location, licensure, market factors, and departmental budgets.
