Walden University is an accredited institution serving professionals for over 50 years. Walden's online programs (doctoral, master's, and bachelor's) help students achieve goals and positively impact society. Walden's School of Nursing seeks a full-time faculty member for the PhD program. This remote position allows candidates to share their professional and academic expertise with students nationwide. Candidates must have a strong track record and a passion for teaching and mentorship in an online environment.
Responsibilities include teaching courses and mentoring student research.
Expectations of Faculty Members: Effective use of online technology and resources to impart knowledge, provide feedback, and communicate promptly. Respectful interactions with students and the university.
Training: New faculty receive training on online teaching techniques, learning platforms, school/college policies, academic integrity, and research supervision. Training completion is required for teaching assignments.
Teaching/Availability: Faculty are assigned courses, interact with students in the Learning Management System (LMS), and respond to student questions within 48 hours. Regular availability, like online office hours or chats, is expected. Minimum of 4 days per week online presence.
Research Mentorship: Faculty mentor students through research, providing timely feedback, and assessing student work.
Residencies: Core PhD faculty may attend domestic residencies for in-person teaching and discussions.
Skills and Qualifications: Earned PhD in Nursing or related field from an accredited institution, current RN licensure, demonstrated experience in teaching graduate courses. Strong research/scholarship background, demonstrated publications and research experience. Proven communication, teamwork, and mentorship skills; experience in distance learning is preferred. Demonstrated expertise in areas like research/scholarship, theory, health care policy, leadership, health care administration, etc.
Education and Experience:
- Earned degree in Nursing & PhD in Nursing or health related field
- Demonstrated coursework in specialization areas (education, health care administration, Population Health, leadership/management, informatics)
- Current RN licensure in one of the 50 US states
- Licensure in additional states may be required
- Excellent record of scholarship, including externally funded research and peer-reviewed publications
- Minimum two years’ experience teaching graduate courses in relevant area
- Experience serving on dissertation supervisory committees/doctoral level committees preferred
Salary: $70,696.34 - $124,230.14 (annual)
