Role Overview: We are seeking a highly experienced Data Governance Architect with deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), particularly with Dataplex, to lead the design and implementation of enterprise-grade data governance frameworks. This role will be instrumental in shaping our data strategy, ensuring compliance, and enabling trusted data access across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect and implement data governance frameworks using GCP Dataplex, ensuring alignment with enterprise data strategy and regulatory requirements.
- Define and enforce data policies, metadata standards, and data quality rules across structured and unstructured datasets.
- Collaborate with data engineers and platform teams to integrate Dataplex with BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, and other GCP-native services.
- Lead data cataloging and classification efforts, ensuring discoverability and lineage tracking of enterprise data assets.
- Establish access controls and security policies using IAM and Dataplex's policy tags to ensure secure and compliant data usage.
- Drive adoption of DataOps and MLOps best practices, enabling scalable and automated data governance processes.
- Mentor and guide data stewards, analysts, and engineers on governance tools and practices.
- Support audits and compliance initiatives by providing traceable and auditable data governance documentation.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 10+ years in data architecture, data governance, or data engineering roles.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with GCP, including Dataplex, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and Data Catalog.
- Strong understanding of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and compliance frameworks.
- Experience with metadata management, data lineage, and data quality tools.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, and Terraform (for infrastructure-as-code on GCP).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- GCP Professional Data Engineer or Cloud Architect certification.
- Experience in telecom, finance, or healthcare domains.
- Familiarity with tools like Collibra, Alation, or Informatica for enterprise data governance
