The State Lead acts as a connector between SubjectToClimate and climate change education activities throughout the state.
Goal: Ensure local values and voices are highlighted in SubjectToClimate's work.
Responsibilities:
- Building awareness of professional development (PD) programs.
- Teacher presentations (30/60/90-minute engagements).
- Advisory role in developing PD program strategy.
- State teacher training (synchronous sessions).
- Leveraging state conferences/events for connections.
- State Hubs design for resource awareness.
- Liaison with State Project Manager during hub launches.
- Research and share state-specific PD, approvals.
- Developing relationships with state partners (agencies, etc).
- Leading the state's Advisory Committee.
- Connecting with organizations with aligned missions.
- Connecting with local sustainability universities.
- Partnering with schools, administration, government agencies.
- Supporting StC staff in identifying funding opportunities.
- Networking with entities that strengthen StC's grant applications.
Qualifications
- Living in the applying state (remote position).
- Passionate about mission and values.
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
- Local knowledge of state education systems.
- Ability to lead people inclusively.
- Courage and creativity for new partnerships.
- Availability for 10 hours/week and in-person events (25% travel).
- Experience as an educator is welcome.
Additional Preferences
- Remote work proficiency (Zoom, Slack, Monday.com).
- Experience organizing events.
- Grant writing/fundraising familiarity.
- Leadership experience (local/community-based).
