This application is for a 12-week internship role from June - August 2025. Resume review begins in January 2025.Biostatistics Department internship.
The Biostatistics Department in the Analytics and Data Sciences organization provides statistical support across Research and Development.
The clinical statisticians in the biostatistics group collaborate with stakeholders to develop agile and robust clinical development plans. They also provide statistical expertise and manage activities for clinical programs.
For the summer intern projects, you will require to read and synthesize key methodology papers, efficiently develop simulation code in R or other statistical package, and explore results. Any new code should be documented and packaged in a user-friendly way.
A final technical write-up and presentation will be expected.
- Project 1: Expanding our spatial proteomics analytical toolkit: implementation of a multi-modal data integration pipeline to support spatial multi-omics studies
- Project 2: Assessing Methods for Estimating Unconditional Treatment Effects in Binary Endpoints and Evaluating Alternative Clinical Outcome Measures for Lupus Studies
- Project 3: Exploration of Bayesian borrowing using adult data in pediatric setting
- Project 4: Extending Prognostic Scores and Machine Learning Techniques to Improve Precision of Treatment Effect Estimation for Comparative Studies
- Project 5: Evaluation of Real-World Effectiveness of Newly Approved Disease-Modifying Therapies using Instrumental Variable Analysis
- Project 6: Comparative evaluation of MAIC and STC – simulation-based analysis of bias, error, effective sample size and robustness
Experience with R, SAS and other statistical packages.
Knowledge or interest in Biotechnology industry.
Ability to translate data into business insights.
To participate in the Biogen Internship Program, students must meet the following criteria:
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
- At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
- Currently enrolled in a PhD program
- Completed two years of graduate work and passed doctorate qualification exam
- Graduation date no earlier than August 2025
- Majored in statistics, biostatistics, or other related fields
