Intern Intern, Public Engagement Communications

PURPOSE OF POSITION: Oxfam America seeks an energetic Intern to support the Public Engagement division. The position will provide communications support to the division in service of Oxfam’s mission.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Monitor news mentions of Oxfam’s work; maintain a database of US-based journalists.
• Manage and respond to journalist inquiries.
• Provide administrative support for events (e.g., Hunger Banquets).
• Track social media trends and hashtags; assist in social media posting.
• Review and proof digital content.
• Support project management in Asana.
• Coordinate content uploading to Inuru, ensuring proper metadata and ethical standards.
• Edit photos, remove duplicates, and train Oxfam staff on Inuru.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum one-year relevant experience or educational background in communications.
• Proficiency with MS Office suite.
• Digital and/or social media experience.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and communication skills.
• Interest in social justice.

POSITION DETAILS:

• 6-month position.
• 32 hours per week.
• Salary: $17.00/hour.
• Non-exempt/Non-union.
