Principal Auditor for Responsible Sourcing/Ethical Trade/Social Compliance works with audit teams to plan, prioritize, and perform audit activities and preparation of reports to ensure technical excellence. Lead Auditors are experienced and have in-depth knowledge of the markets. They master different schemes, contact Program Managers, support local implementation and improvement. Must be able to work independently and prioritize workloads. Experience with project management, leadership, team commitment and excellent communication skills are desirable. Degree-level education, completed recognized auditor training (APSCA), recognized second-party auditor approval, or relevant training. Minimum two years' supply chain experience. Excellent communication skills in English and Afrikaans.
Primary Job Responsibilities (but not limited to):
- Perform all duties according to the SGS Statement of Integrity.
- Act as sole or lead auditor on selected schemes.
- Ensure effective audits align with Responsible Business Services Global Procedures, Scheme requirements, and client SOPs.
- Meet agreed turnaround times.
- Maintain a professional image.
- Promote SGS approach and services through seminars, presentations, and articles.
- Provide technical input to back office and sales teams.
- Review reports from other auditors.
- Develop relationships with stakeholders (NGOs, industry bodies, related contacts).
- Maintain awareness of current trends and client expectations.
- Attend public and client-led conferences.
- Ensure compliance with Company’s Code of Integrity & Professional Conduct.
- Cooperate fully with investigations regarding quality issues or integrity.
- Adopt safe behaviors.
- Witness other auditors' work to ensure competence.
- Lead and organize audit teams.
- Mentor and provide on-the-job training.
- Coordinate with Program Managers on program implementation.
- Prepare topics for Auditor technical meetings.
- Identify quality, integrity, and efficiency improvement areas.
- Assist in developing and revising audit policies and procedures.
- Resolve and escalate complex issues.
- Contribute to technical documents.
- Must be registered with APSCA and complete APSCA exams.
- Social Auditor Training.
- Local and international travel required.
- Valid passport required.
- Knowledge of and experience in labor laws, occupational health and safety standards, and environmental management.
- Own transport and current driver's license.
Remuneration: Sub-Contractor position.
