On our team, the Legal Research Intern plays a vital role in locating, organizing, and managing legal content. The Legal Research Intern is an active member of our collaborative writing team to help ensure our project can be supported by the latest, reliable data.
Qualifications:
- Seeking a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Law degree focused on legal studies, criminal law, human rights, social justice or a closely related field
- exceptional research skills and experience collecting and organizing legal data
- Superior attention to detail and dedication to accuracy
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage and organize legal content using Google Drive; collaborate using Google Docs, Sheets and Slides
- Ability to obtain information using the Missouri Sunshine Law and/or Freedom of Information Act.
- Using Good judgment in soliciting information and data from state and nonprofit agencies through phone calls, emails, and formal requests
- Ability to follow instructions and ask for clarification where needed
- Self-motivated and ability to work independently on detailed research tasks for long stretches of time while meeting deadlines, as well as the ability to work collaboratively on a team
- Strong Oral and written communication skills,
- Strong knowledge and skills using technology – the internet, online library databases, and video conferencing (screen sharing, video chat) and Microsoft Office Suite products.
- Passion for law and justice for the wrongly accused
- Other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional experience communicating with law enforcement agents, attorneys and other legal agencies.
- Currently enrolled in a law program or the desire to pursue a career in the law field.
- Currently enrolled in a PhD program in criminal justice or human rights
Additional Requirements:
- Agree to sign an NDA to keep all project information confidential

- Agree to support the project from September 15 - November 15, 2024
