GENERAL SUMMARY:The College of Nursing seeks dynamic, innovative faculty for part-time (contributing) positions in the Master of Science in Nursing program. The key responsibilities include teaching advanced pharmacology courses for nurse practitioner students. This position reports to the Clinical Core Specialty Coordinator.
Part-time (Contributing) non-nursing faculty work with other faculty and administrators.
Faculty members are responsible for maintaining a program of scholarship/practice in their specialty, and may assist with faculty orientation, development, mentoring/monitoring, and evaluation. Part-time faculty may participate in college/university committee service.
Current requirements:
- Earned Doctorate
- Higher Ed teaching experience
- Current Pharmacist/PharmD or active Nurse Practitioner Practice and Scholarship
Walden Faculty Expectations:
- Educate students effectively using online technology & resources.
- Provide thoughtful, well-written, and timely communication.
- Adhere to Walden University Faculty expectations.
Course Teaching/Availability:
- Assigned courses taught asynchronously using Canvas.
- Interact with students in Canvas.
- Minimum 4 days per week online classroom presence.
- Respond to student questions within 48 hours.
- Verify student postings & submissions.
- Provide feedback & grades through Canvas.
- Publish availability to students.
Training: All new Faculty receive training in teaching techniques, electronic learning platforms, College policies/procedures, Walden culture, academic integrity, and research supervision.
Work Environment: Primarily virtual. Six to eight hours daily on personal computer equipment. Typical office demands.
Education/Experience:
- Earned Doctorate in Pharmacy or Nurse Practitioner degree from accredited institution
- Current pharmacology patient care experience
- Professional scholarly contributions
- Higher education teaching experience (preferred)
- Recent clinical experience (preferred)
- Commitment to distance learning student needs
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
- US licensure
- Distance learning experience (preferred)
Technology Requirements: Adequate computer, keyboard, pointing device, monitor, reliable internet access (backup), Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), zip software, Adobe Acrobat.
Licensing/Certification: Appropriate credentials, earned degree from accredited institution, licensure required, maintain licenses/certifications, stay current with research.
Compensation:Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per quarter/semester. Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter.
