Part-Time Part-time Senior Field Service Technician

This position requires daily travel to locations for commercial work in SE MI and regional TSA.

Responsibilities:

• Troubleshoots, services, installs, and repairs Trace, X-Ray, CT X-Ray, and Cargo Inspection System equipment at customer sites.
• Maintains field service log and filing system.
• Provides assistance to Technical Support Staff when not on travel or assigned shift.
• Conducts follow-up calls with customers to ensure satisfaction.
• Responds to emergency and non-scheduled calls for service.
• Fosters positive customer relations and high customer satisfaction.
• Acts as a liaison between the customer and other departments.
• Installs, repairs, and maintains equipment in the field.
• Provides customer training as required.
• Completes scheduled maintenance within deadlines.
• Documents inspections, maintenance, and repair work.
• Orders, installs, and returns parts.
• Maintains an accurate inventory of parts and tools.
• Maintains technical certifications.
• Reviews logs, prepares reports to customers.
• Participates in Service Sales opportunities and assists with promotion.
• Ensures tools and test equipment are maintained and calibrated.
• Assesses product/equipment performance and recommends improvements.
• Provides technical support to customers.
• May participate in site surveys and meetings.
• Possesses high technical knowledge on Trace, X-Ray, and Multiplexing technologies.
• Maintains clear communication, both oral and written.
• Maintains close relationships with Senior FST's and Product Managers.
• Exercises cost control measures.
• Submits expenses, timecards, and other administrative tasks within timelines.
• Complies with company health, safety, and environmental policies.
• May assist in preparing operator and maintenance documentation, and training.
• May lead small cross-functional teams.

Skills and experience:

• Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Strong technical product knowledge
• Ability to read and follow schematics
• Cross-training on products
• High proficiency in servicing specified product lines
• Knowledge of business PC applications (MS Office)
• Minimum 8 years experience in troubleshooting and field repair
• Minimum Associate's degree or equivalent experience

Physical requirements:

• Able to lift/carry 80 lbs.
• Able to push/pull 200 lbs.
• Able to move/manipulate equipment up to 1000 lbs.

Other Requirements:

• Requires Sensitive Security Information (SSI) access.
• Must pass a federal background investigation.
• Must be willing to travel at short notice.
• Must be willing to work on-call and off-shift.
