Our food manufacturing client in the Modesto market has an immediate need for a Payroll Analyst to join their team on a potential contract to hire basis. The position will be working on-site Monday through Friday full time hours with overtime during peak season.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Time and Attendance Management: The Payroll Analyst will be responsible for overseeing and managing time-tracking for all employees. This role will include validating and recording the employees' attendance, sick leaves, vacation days, and other designated time off.
  • Payroll Processing: An essential part of the job is processing payroll for up to 1300 timecards seamlessly, affirming the accuracy of each payroll cycle. This will encompass coordinating with the team to ensure smooth handling, particularly when distributing the workload.
  • System Usage and Transition: The analyst will be expected to work proficiently with UKG, Kronos, ADP. Moreover, the candidate will play a significant role in transitioning to Workday, ensuring all data is accurately transferred and the new system is up and running promptly.
  • Payroll Accounting: In addition to payroll processing, the analyst will also need to perform related accounting duties. These might include managing and reconciling payroll expenses, processing and maintaining records of payments, deductions, benefits, and taxes, and preparing financial reports relevant to payroll.
  • Work in a Fast-Paced Environment: Ensuring efficiency and accuracy under pressure is critical in this role. The payroll analyst will need to complete tasks quickly — often under strict timelines — and handle multiple duties in our quick-paced bullpen setup.
  • Compliance and Audit: The Payroll analyst will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and company policies. Periodic audit of payroll processes should be carried out to identify and rectify discrepancies or inefficiencies.
  • Collaborative Effort: Building strong relationships with other departments and team members to ensure seamless payroll processes and resolve any arising issues. This includes effective communication and collaboration.
  • Problem Resolution: Resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information promptly and accurately. The ability to troubleshoot and address issues as they arise is crucial in this role.
  • Continuous Improvement: Continually reassess and recommend improvements to the payroll process to increase efficiency, accuracy, and service levels to employees.

Requirements:

  • Intermediate experience in MS Excel is a must.
  • Previous experience as a payroll analyst or in a related role would be beneficial.
  • Familiarity with UKG, Kronos, ADP, and Workday is a plus.
  • Excellent numerical abilities for accurate data compilation and dealing with payroll calculations.
  • Strong time management abilities to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to perform in a team-oriented bullpen environment.
  • Solid problem-solving and analytical skills.
