The position will serve as the contract Technical Specialist assigned to the CRIS project. This role will serve on the Enterprise Test Team and will assist IT Management at all levels with the delivery and support of software testing disciplines across DOT-T. This position will advise on best practices of processes and industry standards for software testing and support at an enterprise level. The Technical Lead will advise on CRIS project testing activities including Component Integration, system Integration, Regression, Performance and Disaster Recovery Testing. The position requires a high level of communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact with management across all levels.
Responsibilities 70% Test Specialist
- Analyze user requests and design appropriate testing environments to support application and business requirements.
- Assist in the development of detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, staffing plans, and status reports for tactical work.
- Analyze code for requirements verification and validation of test results
- Collaborate with the SQA Leaders in order to receive feedback on work direction with the test team staff members who provide testing and support services to DOT_T including resource, task, and priority management.
- Code scripts to support web service testing.
- Perform testing services for DOT-T including but not limited to test script development, functional testing services, performance testing services, and results reporting.
- Assist the SQA Leaders with training, coaching, and mentoring software testing processes, techniques, and tools.
- Collaborate with the SQA Leaders to resolve problems that arise in day-to-day management of projects.
- Review and analysis of project requirements for clarity, understanding and testability
- Development of system test plans and manual test cases
- Execution of the test cases and test scripts
- Defect management and reporting
- Providing input or creating testing artifacts to include but not be limited to: Test Plans, Test Results, Metrics and Defect Reports
- Providing weekly status reports to Management
20% Planning/Organization
- Collaborate with SQA Test Leaders to assist by developing and executing test plans to meet NCDOT-T business needs for all software testing disciplines on the NCCRIS Project
- Research and maintain a current understanding of available and evolving software testing tools, processes and techniques related to technology trends.
- Assist SQA Leaders and IT Management with collecting, organizing and communicating testing services and test results-related information needed on reporting for the NCCRIS Project

Required Skills:
- 5 Years - Knowledge of specific agency functions and business needs; of changes in computer technology and specific application systems
- 5 Years - Experience testing business web applications and complex business applications
- 5 Years - Experience using OpenText Testing Tools Suite (ALM, UFT, LoadRunner/Performance Center and SiteScope
- 5 Years - Ability to think analytically and effectively communicate actionable results for test analysis, issues identified and proposed resolutions
- 5 Years - Code test scripts to support web service testing
- 5 Years - Analyze code for requirements verification and validation of test results
- 5 Years - Collaborate with the SQA Leaders in order to receive feedback on work direction
- 5 Years - Graduation from 4-year college or university with a degree in Computer Science or a related field
