About CoW DAO: CoW DAO protects Ethereum users in DeFi. It supports CoW Protocol, CoW Swap, MEV Blocker, and CoW AMM. It funds value-aligned projects through the CoW Grants Program.
About the role: We're seeking a motivated Senior Backend Engineer to build the next generation of decentralized trading protocols.
Location: Fully remote, preference for Europe or remote +/- 4 hours CEST. Not hiring from US, Australia, or New Zealand.
Position: Full-time contractor.
Responsibilities:
- Architect and design off-chain services (core auction protocol and orderbook).
- Work with researchers and product team to ship features and solve technical challenges.
- Deliver high-quality code from concept to production, including monitoring.
- Maintain and improve existing features' reliability and participate in on-call rotation.
- Provide in-depth code reviews for open-source codebase.
Tech Stack:
- Backend: Rust, Tokio, Cargo, Git
- Infrastructure: Pulumi, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Grafana, Prometheus, Elasticsearch
- Other: TypeScript, Python, Solidity
Requirements:
- 1+ years production experience with Rust (C++ experience a plus)
- Excellent computer science, programming, and algorithmic skills
- Web3 experience (ideally DeFi and Ethereum blockchain)
- Experience in operating, maintaining, and architecting complex systems
- Strong focus on code quality, readability, observability, and testability
- Proactive technical direction, performance optimization, issue prevention, and code refactoring
- Team player, strong communicator, and willing to share expertise
- Effective collaboration with remote team on large open-source codebase
- Mentoring experience desired
- Interest in Ethereum
