Job Details
Loop's DevOps Engineers have deep technical infrastructure skills in cloud technologies, containerization, automation tools, and configuration management. Our projects and decisions are guided by two ultimate goals: to architect a resilient and secure platform, and creating tooling and patterns that our fellow engineer's LOVE to use.
The DevOps Engineers are the primary SME's for building and maintaining common infrastructure, development patterns, and tooling required by all of Loop's applications and engineering teams. We work to build a seamless developer environment (and experience) to make development, deployment, and maintenance a frictionless experience for Loop's Software Engineers.
We've listed what to expect and where you'll be spending your time. This is an indispensable role with us, so we're looking for examples of when you've tackled similar challenges throughout your career. We've laid out the experience and skills that are important for your success. We appreciate that different humans solve problems in different ways, so we don't expect you to fit exactly into a list of requirements.
At Loop, we believe that flexibility and choice are what allow you to do your best work. With our Blended Working Environment, you have options ranging from joining our HQ office (in Columbus, Ohio), opting into a Hub (a location with 4+ team members), or staying totally secluded (our version of remote). Our team is spread across the United States, select provinces in Canada (Ontario & British Columbia), and the United Kingdom. Wherever you live, you can create the work environment that best matches your preferences and lifestyle.
Our tech stack: AWS Cloud (Elastic Kubernetes Service, Redis, Aurora, DynamoDB, and IAM), Docker, Laravel, Linux, PHP 8.x, Terraform, CircleCI, ArgoCD, Elasticsearch,,Teleport\n
Challenge: Create strong foundations that will allow the engineering organization to scale, self-service, and promote engineering excellence.
- Lead comprehensive projects to design, build and maintain new and existing platform components to support our development Platform primarily in AWS.
- Ensure high availability and resiliency for our application infrastructure stack in Kubernetes.
- Set up, optimize, or modify infrastructure provisioning with IaC practices in Terraform including monitoring and alerting.
- Provide mentorship and coaching to more junior engineers, contributing to the effectiveness of the team as a whole.
- Collaborate across the organization with engineers of other disciplines.
- Create clear and up to date documentation on design and implementation of the projects you implement.
- Help the organization with complex troubleshooting scenarios including attributes in applications, containers, database, the cloud and helping drive strong SDLC observability practices.
- Participate in on-call activities and incident response scenarios.
- Can help enable the organization to move towards CI/CD and shifting engineering responsibilities left.
Your experience:
- 7+ years of hands-on experience leading, building, and maintaining large-scale distributed infrastructure and automating highly-available and resilient systems.
- 5+ years of experience using Amazon Web Services.
- 4+ years of scaling cloud infrastructure (containers or Kubernetes) to meet large traffic volumes.
- 4+ years of infrastructure as code design and implementation experience with a preference for Terraform.
- A development background that will help bridge gaps in container, infrastructure, and application complexities.
- Database Administration experience.
- Building development and infrastructure tooling in creative and development friendly ways (interactions in Slack, etc).
