As a Senior Front-End Developer, you'll play a key role in shaping digital products and driving innovation in front-end engineering. You’ll deliver front-end solutions by setting coding standards, designing architecture, and guiding engineering practices. You’ll help lead the team through complex technical challenges.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and deliver features end-to-end, converting designs into production-grade code.
- Set front-end architecture and coding standards, assure quality, and drive component reuse.
- Own the testing strategy across unit, integration, and end-to-end levels.
- Optimise performance and accessibility.
- Operate the product in production by maintaining CI/CD pipelines, monitoring health, handling incidents.
- Collaborate with designers, product managers, QA, and back-end engineers.
- Set realistic commitments, surface risks early, and keep stakeholders aligned.
- Manage feature flags, canary releases, and rollback plans.
- Seek and apply feedback, share domain knowledge, maintain documentation.
Essential Requirements:
- Demonstrable professional front-end experience.
- Expert-level knowledge of React.
- Proficient in TypeScript.
- Solid experience with Next.js.
- Deep knowledge of front-end engineering practices.
- Strong testing and debugging with Playwright, Jest, Cypress, or similar.
- Proven mentoring and cross-functional collaboration.
- Strong understanding of design systems and component libraries.
- Experience shaping solutions during discovery and advising on technical feasibility.
- Experience with Git and modern branching strategies.
Desirable Skills:
- Cloud-native delivery on AWS or Azure.
- GOV.UK Design System and Service Standard experience.
- Storybook ownership for UI documentation.
- Figma for collaboration and Mural for workshops.
- Front-end security basics.
Security Clearance:
- Active UK Security Check (SC) to start, or eligible for SC with required residency.
- Must meet residency requirements for SC transfer.
