Contractor SSA Healthcare Research Analyst

About the PositionWe seek an SSA Healthcare Research Analyst to support our SSA Healthcare practice (primarily focusing South Africa, Kenya and Nigeria), providing insights into business implications of economic and policy developments for multinational healthcare companies.

Job Responsibilities

• Remain updated on major healthcare policy developments (public & private expenditure, reimbursement, formularies, system design).
• Track and monitor changes in healthcare policy (formularies, reimbursement, financing, insurance coverage, drug/device approvals).
• Analyze financial flows and stakeholder incentives in healthcare systems.
• Develop forward-looking views on healthcare policy in SSA.
• Deliver research presentations to senior executives.
• Collaborate with macroeconomic research team on linking analysis to healthcare trends.

About You

• Bachelor's/Master's degree from a top-tier institution (or relevant experience).
• Major in economics, public health, business, international relations, or regional studies relevant to Sub-Saharan Africa.
• Demonstrated knowledge of SSA markets (academic/professional research).
• Strong understanding of the socio-political & economic environment.
• Excellent written communication skills in English.
• Fluency in Afrikaans and/or Swahili is a plus.
• Basic understanding of macroeconomics.
• Demonstrated research experience (hypothesis testing, complex projects, primary/secondary research).
• Project management skills, tight deadlines, independent work.
• Ability to cover diverse topics.
• Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint.

Contract Details

1-year contract, likely renewed in 6-month intervals.
