Staff Backend Engineer

As a Staff Backend Engineer, you'll shape the technical direction of our solutions.

• Identify strategic technical needs.
• Lead large-scale, complex product initiatives.
• Optimize engineering processes.
• Own technological initiatives (management, execution, design, reporting).
• Serve as lead interviewer, mentor engineers, and lead incident responses.
• Design, build, and deploy server application code, implementing secure coding standards and meeting sprint goals.
• Monitor server application performance, participate in server ops on-call schedule, and minimize defects.

Key Responsibilities

• Foster optimal product direction, collaborating with stakeholders to streamline designs.
• Identify areas of risk/tradeoffs.
• Own technical initiatives: accountability, execution, design, requirements, progress reporting, resource coordination.
• Lead technical interviews and reviews of engineering blog posts.
• Mentor engineers.
• Lead SEV1 and lower incident responses.
• Lead large-scale and complex product initiatives.
• Be a culture leader across the engineering organization.

Candidate Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years (ideally 15+), developing web APIs using .NET (C#).
• Experience with ORMs (e.g., Entity Framework).
• Experience constructing and optimizing RDMS queries.
• Experience with asynchronous programming.
• Knowledge of messaging queues (e.g., AMQP).
• Knowledge of PaaS environments (e.g., Azure).
