Desirable Qualifications
In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
- Knowledge of assessing written psychological test to measure psychopathology, personality traits, and suitability for peace officer work
- Knowledge of principles of effectively conducting clinical structured psychological interviews
- Knowledge of test construction and validation procedures
- Knowledge of application of screening methodology and procedures to specialized law enforcement populations
- Knowledge of the psychology of implicit bias
- Ability to prepare, review, and edit written reports
- Ability to review and incorporate information from collateral sources
- Ability to present ideas clearly, logically, and persuasively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
- Ability to manage time and prioritize workload independently
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to conduct research to maintain current knowledge of relevant information related to the practice of peace officer selection and related psychological concepts
- Ability to leverage the power and creativity brought about by a diverse workforce to improve the division and department
- Ability to demonstrate Integrity, conscientiousness, and dependability
