Job Details
Temporary Staff Accountant maintains and controls designated General Ledger accounts and business transactions, applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Includes analytical work and thorough review of financial records.
Produces required journal entries, project uploads, and account reconciliations in accordance with OUS policies, procedures, and schedules while coordinating with Finance staff, other Oxfam America (OUS) departments, and outside contacts (e.g., bank representatives, external auditors).
- Reconciles various bank accounts.
- Produces monthly journal entries and project uploads.
- Prepares account reconciliations for assigned asset, liability, revenue, and expense accounts (OUS and OAAF). Resolves variances.
- Reconciles, balances, and maintains accounting records, including auditable backup.
- Ensures completeness and accuracy of transactions and account balances.
- Ensures timely completion of monthly closing responsibilities, escalating issues impacting the schedule.
- Analyzes and interprets financial data.
- Presents data concisely and usefully.
- Prepares preliminary financial reports, statements, and projections.
- Serves as a backup to other Finance team staff.
- Maintains confidentiality of operational and financial information.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of accounting experience.
- Familiarity with ERP or Modular Accounting Systems.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, Excel (Pivot Tables, SUMIFS, XLOOKUP).
- Ability to structure and present Excel reports.
- Excellent attention to detail, ability to maintain accurate audit trails.
- Ability to work independently and coordinate duties within a team.
- Proactive problem-solving, collaboration, and identification of system/policy issues.
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
- Excellent interpersonal skills and team-building capacity.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency with UBW
- Experience with non-profit accounting
