Thesis Work: Overcoming hydraulic barriers.
Mitigating the environmental impacts of hydropower production, including the preservation and reinstatement of upstream and downstream river connectivity for fish species like the European eel.
Objective: Streamline elver trap-and-transport by integrating a tube fishway system with an existing floating elver collector to reduce manual intervention and minimize fish handling.
Tasks:
- Literature review on tube fishways.
- Design and construction of a laboratory prototype tube fishway.
- Experimental evaluation of hydraulic and hydrodynamic conditions.
- Adaptation and expansion of a numerical model.
- Development of recommendations for system improvement.
Your Profile:
- Background in environmental, hydraulic, or civil engineering (or similar).
- Foundational understanding of hydraulics and fluid mechanics.
- Interest in applying engineering solutions to ecological challenges.
- Enjoy hands-on experimental work.
- English language is a requirement.
