Join Updater's Production Support team.
As an Associate Production Support Engineer, you'll be the guardian of our revenue-generating systems while evolving into a reliability engineering partner.
Core Responsibilities (70% of time):
- Monitor critical production systems using DataDog dashboards and synthetic tests.
- Respond to incidents with speed and precision.
- Manage escalations from internal and external partners.
- Partner with engineering, support teams, and providers to resolve issues.
- Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation.
- Triage and resolve production issues through JIRA.
Growth & Evolution Responsibilities (30% of time):
- Learn to implement SLOs and SLIs for critical services.
- Develop basic automation scripts (Python, Bash, AWS CLI).
- Gain familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
- Collaborate with the DevOps team.
- Contribute to developer self-service initiatives.
- Support the Platform Engineering mission.
- Develop documentation and procedures.
- Participate in cross-team collaboration.
- Learn observability best practices.
Required Skills:
- 2+ years experience troubleshooting production systems.
- Understanding of fundamental programming concepts and basic scripting.
- Experience with SQL and relational databases.
- Familiarity with API testing tools and web service troubleshooting.
- Basic understanding of Git.
- AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner knowledge.
- Proven ability to work under pressure.
- Experience with ticketing systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code concepts (Terraform).
- Experience with monitoring tools (DataDog, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Understanding of containerization and Kubernetes fundamentals.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipeline concepts.
- Experience with configuration management tools.
- Previous experience in customer-facing technical support.
- Background in system administration or DevOps.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
- 2+ years of experience in technical support, system administration, DevOps, or related roles.
