Job Details
The Coding Specialist II performs CPT and ICD10 coding through abstraction of the medical record, focusing on complex encounters and HCPCs procedural codes.
- Deep understanding of disease process, A&P, and pharmacology.
- Collaborates with Providers and Clinical areas.
- Trains physicians and staff regarding documentation, billing, and coding.
- Resolves Optum coding edits.
Responsibilities:
- Reviews medical records and codes physician services and diagnoses.
- Assigns CPT, ICD10 codes, and modifiers with a minimum of 95% accuracy.
- Ensures charge capture.
- Provides documentation feedback to physicians.
- Reviews and communicates billing/coding guidelines.
- Resolves pre-accounts receivable edits.
- Collaborates with Patient Accounting and PB Billing.
- Meets coding productivity and quality standards.
Required: RHIA, RHIT, or CPC/CCS certification. 0-2 years of experience. 94% accuracy on coding test.
Preferred: Bachelor's/Associate's in Health Information Management (CAHIIM). Previous physician coding experience.
