Walden University seeks a dynamic, innovative faculty member for this contributing (part-time) position in the B.S. in Public Health program.
Modalities: Course-based with 6-week terms and Tempo (Competency-Based) using a subscription model. All modalities are asynchronous.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach courses in: Concepts of Health Promotion, Public and Global Health, Public Health Policy, Public Health Education, Health Communications, or Research Methods and Analysis.
- Manage own time to fulfill responsibilities.
- Provide course instruction as assigned.
- Engage in classrooms at least 4 days a week.
- Respond to student questions within 48 hours.
- Facilitate and engage in discussion boards.
- Assess student work and provide substantive feedback in a timely fashion.
- Be available to students via video chat or phone as needed.
- Occasional additional duties may include course content development.
- Service on university and school committees and school initiatives as needed.
- Support administrative needs within the college.
- Course maintenance as needed.
- Establish an accessible and supportive virtual classroom environment.
- Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors, sharing experiences and observations.

Required Experience/Skills:
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering empowerment and providing support for adult learners.
- Experience with and dedication to serving a diverse population of adult learners who manage multiple responsibilities while pursuing education.
- Experience working collaboratively with faculty and staff to effectively support a positive student experience.
- Completion of appropriate advanced and/or doctoral degrees and experience in the field and/or interdisciplinary fields within academia.
- Experience with building and fostering communities in online environments.
- Online teaching experience.
- Documented contribution to research, thought leadership, and/or scholarship (teaching experience preferred).
- Participation in community organizations, organizational leadership, and social change initiatives.
- Experience with distance learning.
- Appropriate credentials, earned degree from an accredited institution.
- Maintain licenses and certifications.
- Maintain currency with research.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint), zip software, Adobe Acrobat.
- Reliable internet access and alternate access if primary access unavailable.
- Commitment to advocating for the learning and development needs of students earning their degrees in a distance learning environment.
Compensation: Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per Quarter or Semester; Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter.
Required Qualifications:
- Masters or PhD in the field of study or closely related field.
- 3+ years of teaching experience at the degree level of the program.
- 2+ years online or technology-enabled instruction experience.
