Copywriter HBCU Fellowship

We are seeking an enthusiastic and ambitious Copywriter Fellow to gain hands-on experience across all aspects of the agency business while providing invaluable support to our creative team.
Taylor's Copywriter HBCU Fellowship is a paid post-undergraduate, six-month, remote fellowship program.
Taylor provides real-world professional experience, development, and career-readiness fellowships to post-undergraduates and master's students from accredited historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs).

Responsibilities and Learning Opportunities:
As a Taylor Fellow, you will gain hands-on agency experience through an in-depth training program, a dedicated manager, professional development and networking opportunities, and the day-to-day responsibilities and learning opportunities outlined below.
- Shape: Use strong understanding of evolving copywriting principles and a client's business, brand, and industry to offer and develop contemporary copywriting that meets client business needs.
- Remain current on marketing, design, technology, user experience, and cultural trends, and infuse this knowledge into all work.
- Collaborate effectively with Strategy, Account, and Creative teams to provide ongoing counsel to mid-level clients, and to bring ideas to life through unconventional thinking and design innovation.
- Actively participate in creative ideation and planning for digital & social content, motion graphics, event activations, brand identity systems, print materials, and other campaign elements.
- Effectively refine ideas into integrated visual systems that deliver against defined objectives.
- Make assists senior team members with writing of creative platforms, manifestos, digital/social copy, and other copy for presentations and final execution.
- Demonstrate accountability and ownership for all copywriting work on assigned projects, collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams of account/PR, strategy, and production to execute ideas that drive business impact.
- Self-edit work in progress, incorporate feedback and direction from senior team members, and collaborate with them to evolve and elevate your work.
- Work on multiple workstreams/assignments simultaneously, ensuring that all work fits together as part of the broader strategy and/or brand identity system.
Communication and Storytelling
- Partner with Art Direction to design and create concepted ideas.
- Pitch creative ideas.
- Write, present, and communicate in a polished and persuasive manner across all mediums, internally and externally.
- Communicate well with internal colleagues to explain creative ideas and respond to questions or concerns.
- Learn how to write ideas and idea statements and articulate them as headlines.
Concepting
- Actively participate in creative ideation for digital & social content, event activations, brand identity systems, print materials, and other campaign elements.
- Ensure that ideas/concepts fit together as part of the broader strategy and brand identity.
- Assist in quick-turn ideas that tap into a culture or a specific moment in time.
Fellowship Requirements
This is a post-undergraduate opportunity open to recent graduates who hold an undergraduate degree from an accredited HBCU and those who are currently completing a master's program or hold a master's degree from an accredited HBCU.
Prior experience/internships at PR, Advertising, Digital/Social Marketing, Creative agencies or relevant coursework.
Write, present, and communicate in a persuasive manner, across a variety of platforms, including social media.
Strong attention to detail, organization, multitasking, and time-management.
Team player who enjoys working with and helping others in a collaborative environment.
Curious and open to others' ideas and viewpoints with a willingness to learn and take constructive feedback.
A good problem solver who seeks to make improvements and learns from mistakes.
Additional Details:
This is a full-time position (35-40hrs/week), Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. ET.
Must be a recent college graduate, a graduate school student, and/or a student who has recently completed a master's program at an accredited HBCU.
This is a paid fellowship: $4,166.68 per month worked, less applicable deductions and withholdings (based on an annual equivalent salary of $50k).
Includes Paid Time Off, Holidays, and additional perks.
Fellowship begins 1/8/2025, and will go through 6/27/2025.
