Creative Director (CD), Copy, Market Access is a manager and leader of brands, setting the standard for senior-level copy team members.
The CD excels at multitasking, delegating, and managing to ensure smooth business operations while contributing to idea generation and execution.
They act as a direct liaison between creative, senior account teams, and clients, meeting and exceeding strategic and creative expectations.
The CD demonstrates strong business acumen in market access and related channels (payers, pharmacy benefit managers, pharmacies, integrated delivery networks/health systems, employer benefit consultants, actuaries). They nurture the talents of others and have advanced presentation and persuasion skills, effectively leading meetings and selling work internally and externally.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ownership of market access content for individual projects and agency of record brands.
- Participation and ownership in new business pitches for market access, demonstrating knowledge of strategic imperatives, message architecture, and tactics.
- Mentoring, supervising, and guiding career paths for junior-level writers.
- Monitoring project progress for both self and direct reports, providing direction, input, and feedback.
- Coordinating assignments among freelance writers, managing freelance work quality.
- Assessing daily copywriting needs, alerting supervisors to coverage gaps and support needs.
- Demonstrating commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in English, Communications, Life Sciences, or related field.
- 10+ years of agency/healthcare writing experience.
- 8+ years of experience in branded/unbranded topics related to managed markets (presentations, value propositions, formulary kits, etc.).
- 5+ years of agency experience supervising market access content.
- Examples of collateral conveying marketing messages and scientific content for market access stakeholders.
- Expertise in extracting information from clinical sources and writing accurate copy.
- Experience with complex projects and internal/external teams.
- Client-facing confidence to advance dialogue, sell ideas, and build strong agency-client relationships.
- Proficiency in AMA style.
- Familiarity with FDA/OPDP regulations.
- Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Prioritization and time management skills.
Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe, Microsoft Office, and Teams.
