Full-Time Data Center Design Manager

AECOM is seeking a talented and experienced Design Manager.

The qualified candidate will oversee colocation and hyper-scale data center projects, from site due diligence, campus planning, conceptual/schematic/detailed design through construction documents, and construction administration.

Ideal candidate has experience managing colocation and hyper-scale data center design, a background in electrical or mechanical engineering, and strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities:

• Identify, onboard, and offboard design resources.
• Lead data center core and shell due diligence and design projects (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, security, and fire protection).
• Develop and enforce project and program management plans.
• Administer, oversee, and perform peer review and quality checks.
• Oversee project basis of design and localization process.
• Establish and oversee scope change, error, and inconsistency resolution process.
• Host and attend client meetings.
• Manage and grow AECOM's data center design team.
• Proactively manage and communicate change.
• Identify problems and develop creative solutions.
• Communicate project updates and resolve issues with all stakeholders.
• Develop technical and financial proposals.
• Develop trusting relationships with client stakeholders.
• Oversee project administration documents (design updates, action items, meeting minutes, quality reports).

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering plus 10 years of experience, or equivalent.
• Experience in Data Centers.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Architecture License
• 10+ years in design and/or project management
• Lean Six Sigma Certification
• Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Professional
• Active/recent leadership in data center/mission-critical trade organizations
• 10+ years in colocation and/or hyper-scale data center design management & engineering
• Excellent written/oral communication
• Ability to work in dynamic, time-sensitive situations
• Team leadership skills
• Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
