Job Description
The ideal candidate will have research experience (advanced degree or work experience outside academia). They will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define business problems, select data and methods, perform analyses, and present results to stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Balance business goals with statistical and technical constraints
- Work effectively with data scientists, strategists, and leaders throughout projects
- Brainstorm ideas, design experiments, and analyze data
- Visualize and communicate findings, translating technical results to business contexts
- Document analysis scripts in Python and SQL, using Git/GitHub
- Extract insights via NLP, segmentation/clustering, geospatial analysis, hierarchical Bayesian modeling, Markov chain Monte Carlo, decision trees, and deep neural networks
- Guide data science project structure and objectives
- Present results to teams and clients
- Integrate AI into work
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in statistics, mathematics, bioinformatics, physical sciences, or related quantitative field
- Strong understanding of statistics and experimental design
- Experience working with data (bias, error, confusion, power, and significance)
- Familiarity with Python (numpy, pandas, matplotlib, scikit-learn) and SQL
- Proficiency in Git and command line
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently on smaller projects and collaboratively on larger ones
- Demonstrated aptitude for continual learning
Assets
- 2+ years of professional experience in analytics or data science
- Experience analyzing medical claims and EHR data
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, AWS or Google Cloud Platform
- Graduate degree in relevant field
