Role Overview:
In this role, you will leverage your strong data analysis and modeling skills to build data products that offer our clients valuable insights into their performance and the competitive landscape. You will work with diverse 1st and 3rd party data sources-including email receipt data, clickstream data, web scraped data, and more-to develop insights into consumer purchasing behavior and brands' market share performance. You will apply skills in predictive modeling, statistics and panel projection methodologies to build estimates of product performance and the drivers of that performance.
You will report directly to the VP of Data Science and work with a small team of data scientists in close collaboration with partners in the Engineering, Product and Operations teams to develop and deliver the output of your models to clients. The role will primarily focus on R&D efforts to evaluate data sources and build the models to produce estimates of key metrics, with deployment and operational aspects of the products primarily supported by partner teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Creative Problem Solving: Use critical and creative thinking to develop custom solutions, moving beyond out-of-the-box algorithms to effectively address client business problems.
- Data Integration & Modeling: Develop models and algorithms to integrate multiple complementary data sources, transforming raw data into actionable insights.
- Develop projection methodologies and predictive models for estimating product performance metrics from each of the available data sources
- Develop and evolve methodologies for combining modeled estimates from multiple overlapping sources in a scalable and maintainable framework
- Data Source Evaluation: Assess potential new data sources for integration into our existing products, enhancing the quality and breadth of insights provided.
- Ad-Hoc Analysis: Conduct ad-hoc analyses to resolve production issues and address client-specific data inquiries related to modeled outputs.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- 2-5 years of experience in a Data Science role, building data products and developing analytical insights.
- BS/MS degree in a highly analytical field (Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, etc).
Technical Skills:
- Strong quantitative skills in data interpretation, visualization, and statistical analysis.
- Proficiency in database structures and SQL.
- Hands-on experience with at least 3 years of experience with programming languages and modeling packages such as Python, R, or Spark, including libraries like scikit-learn, NumPy, and pandas.
- Experience working with large datasets and optimizing data analysis processes at scale.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2-3 years experience with consumer panel data and alternative data sources such as email receipts, clickstream, credit card transactions, surveys, or web scraped data.
- Experience with parallel processing frameworks like Snowflake, Spark.
- Working knowledge of cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure (AWS preferred).
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Please provide references to prior work demonstrating your Data Science skills (Github repo or similar)
Benefits Summary:
- Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurances
- Retirement Plan: 401(k)
- Flex Time Off Plan
- Paid Parental Leave
