Development Manager will manage activities surrounding procurement, management, and oversight of external and internal resources for utility-scale wind, solar, and storage energy projects in the Western region of the US. Lead multi-million-dollar infrastructure projects, preferably renewable energy projects.
Must encompass entire project lifecycle from early-stage development to construction.
Ideal candidate possesses genuine passion for renewable energy, related field education, and 3+ years of utility-scale renewable energy project development experience.
Demonstrates strong teamwork, enjoys dynamic, diverse cross-departmental teams.
Extensive land leasing experience in the Western US, building rapport with landowners, community members, and stakeholders.
Interpret technical intricacies, negotiate contracts, problem-solve, organize, plan, and meet deadlines for large projects.
Self-starter, involved in projects and fieldwork, collaborates with colleagues, thrives in changing environments.
Leads community and client relationships throughout development, working with internal teams.
Effectively communicates with stakeholders, presenting coherent arguments using facts.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage development process of utility-scale wind, solar, or storage projects.
- Represent company with federal, state, local officials, regulators, utilities, RTOs, and stakeholders.
- Oversee and manage permitting and approval processes.
- Manage preparation and delivery of permitting documentation.
- Interpret technical reports.
- Provide management updates on project status and regulations.
- Manage project financial models, design, and interconnection activities.
- Lead landowner lease negotiations.
- Coordinate project interconnection process.
- Compile and analyze data for stakeholders.
- Organize and supervise project budget, schedule, and proforma.
- Support negotiation of power purchase and asset agreements.
- Develop and execute project marketing strategy.
- Oversee project consultants.
- Maintain clear communication and smooth collaboration.
- Travel to project sites and attend stakeholder meetings.
Required Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in a development-related field.
- 3+ years project development experience, preferably utility-scale renewable energy.
- Solid track record in project management and contract negotiations.
- Knowledge of commercial solar & energy storage markets.
- Experience with county, state, and federal permitting processes (Western US experience preferred).
- Familiarity with FLPMA and NEPA processes (federal land development).
- Experience managing land agents or independent contractors.
- Excellent communication, planning, and organizational skills.
- Ability to lead and present to management, clients, and the public.
- Adherence to safety, ethical, and quality standards.
- Willingness to travel 40% to the Western US.
- Authorization to work in the US.
- Willingness to live and work in the Western US.
