The PositionWe are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to join our team and help design, build, and maintain a secure, scalable, and highly available cloud infrastructure.
You will work closely with engineering, analytics, and product teams to ensure reliable delivery pipelines, automated infrastructure management, and strong system reliability.
This role requires deep expertise with AWS services, infrastructure automation, and DevOps best practices. The ideal candidate has experience supporting both backend and user facing application platforms at scale, thrives in collaborative environments, and has a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Please note: We are seeking candidates based in or able to work standard business hours in the Pacific Time zone.
Responsibilities- Design, implement, and manage AWS cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.
- Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and automation pipelines using tools like Ansible, CDK and AWS CodePipelines.
- Manage, monitor, and optimize core AWS services, including:
- Compute & Networking: EC2, ECS, ECR, VPC, ELB, Route 53, WorkSpaces, VPN
- Data Services: RDS, DynamoDB, DMS, S3, Glue, Athena
- Security & Compliance: IAM Identity Center, Organizations, Secrets Manager, KMS, CloudTrail, Systems Manager, AWS Backup, Certificate Manager
- Messaging & Eventing: SQS, SNS, CloudWatch Events, API Gateway, Lambda, X-Ray, Cognito
- Ensure proactive monitoring and incident response with tools such as CloudWatch, and Splunk
- Support CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows with Github, Bitbucket, and AWS pipelines
- Manage data and analytics pipeline tools like Airflow and Tableau
- Oversee DNS and domain services
- Enforce security best practices, including anti-virus, MFA, and secure file transfer solutions.
- Partner with engineering teams to improve developer experience, reliability, and scalability.
- Support sandbox AWS accounts and infrastructure for testing and development.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 5+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or systems engineering, ideally supporting production workloads in a SaaS, healthcare, or life sciences environment.
- Strong hands-on expertise with common AWS services (EC2, RDS, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, ECS/ECR, Lambda, Secrets Manager, etc.).
- Proven track record of automating infrastructure and deployments using tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, CDK, Terraform/CloudFormation, CodePipeline/CodeBuild.
- Skilled in containerization and orchestration (Docker, ECS).
- Experienced in monitoring, observability, and incident response with CloudWatch, Splunk, Alert Logic, and related tooling.
- Familiar with data and analytics ecosystems (Glue, Athena, Tableau, QuickSight, RDS, DMS).
- Solid understanding of security, compliance, and identity management in cloud environments (WAF, MFA, IAM Identity Center).
- Strong background in networking, DNS, and VPNs, including management of services like Route 53 and DNS.
- Comfortable working in multi-account AWS Organizations and managing sandbox environments for developers.
- Adept at working cross-functionally with other teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and secure infrastructure.
- Strong communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Self-starter who thrives in remote/distributed teams.
- Relevant industry certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, AWS DevOps Engineer, etc.) are desirable.
