Job Details
Seagull Software, LLC, is a global leader in real-time, item-level visibility and label management solutions.
This role is hands‑on with modern DevOps across AWS and GCP (and occasionally Azure)—building resilient infrastructure, tightening security, and accelerating delivery for high‑availability systems. This is an early‑career role with mentorship and a clear growth path; we hire for potential plus fundamentals.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES- Run production: Operate and harden Kubernetes clusters (EKS/GKE/AKS), VPC/VNet networking, container registries, and (where applicable) service meshes; tune autoscaling, reliability, and cost.
- Design and support multi‑region architectures: Design and support multi‑region architectures spanning U.S., LATAM and APAC with a focus on latency, resilience, and secure connectivity.
- Automation: Author reusable Terraform modules, Helm charts, and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions/Jenkins/GitLab CI).
- Observability & on‑call: Define SLIs/SLOs, wire up metrics/logs/traces (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry), build actionable alerts, and help run a 24×7 rotation.
- Secure by default: Implement IAM/RBAC, secrets management (e.g., Vault/KMS/Key Vault), image scanning, least‑privilege access, and baseline hardening.
- Data layer care: Operate managed databases/caches (Postgres/MySQL, MongoDB, Redis) with backup/restore, patching, and performance workflows.
- Ship faster with confidence: Improve release workflows (blue/green, canary, progressive delivery via Argo CD/Flux), and coach teams on operational readiness.
- Bridge teams & collaborate across regions: Partner closely with U.S.-based engineering, product, and sales teams, as well as LATAM engineering teams, collaborating daily to turn requirements into reliable, secure infrastructure and CI/CD outcomes that deliver aligned results.
- Engage with enterprise clients: Interact with customers operating in security-sensitive, compliance-driven environments, ensuring trust and operational excellence.
- On-call Rotation: The position includes participation in an equitable on-call rotation to support 24×7 operations.
- 2-3 years’ experience as a DevOps or Infrastructure/Network Engineer.
- Foundational cloud hands‑on in AWS and/or GCP (compute, containers, IAM, VPC/networking, managed DBs); Azure exposure welcome.
- Infrastructure as Code with Terraform (plus Helm/Ansible or CloudFormation).
- CI/CD experience (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI) and container build workflows (Docker, artifact registries).
- Linux + networking fundamentals (DNS, TLS, routing, VPN/IPSec, load balancing, troubleshooting).
- Observability basics—metrics/logs/traces; familiarity with Prometheus & Grafana; experience with Open Telemetry standard is a plus.
- Clear, concise communicator; calm under pressure; ownership mindset and eagerness to learn fast.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Collaborative mindset with experience working across distributed, multicultural teams in multiple time zones, including U.S., LATAM, and APAC.
- Adaptability to shifting priorities, emerging technologies, and evolving business needs in a fast-paced environment.
- Problem-solving ability with a structured, analytical approach to troubleshooting and incident resolution under pressure.
- Ownership mentality—takes responsibility for outcomes, follows through on commitments, and proactively addresses issues before they escalate.
- Attention to detail in both technical implementation and documentation, ensuring quality and consistency.
- Customer-oriented mindset, especially when engaging with enterprise clients in security-sensitive, compliance-driven contexts.
- Cultural sensitivity and the ability to build trust across diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Resilience and composure when handling high-stakes incidents or on-call responsibilities.
- Eagerness to learn, continuously improve, and share knowledge with peers.
