The DevOps Technician role at Aquent focused on creating and enhancing web applications.
Primary Function:
- Assist with Automating Deployments: Help build and maintain tools and scripts to automate the deployment of applications and infrastructure changes.
- Support Infrastructure Management: Work with cloud infrastructure technologies, particularly within Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Google Cloud.
- Execute CI/CD Pipelines: Support the maintenance and execution of Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines using tools like Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
- Monitor Systems: Help maintain and monitor systems using logging and monitoring solutions to ensure they are running effectively.
- Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues: Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues in development, testing, and production environments.
- Work with Information Security for patch management and security vulnerability management efforts.
- Contribute to Documentation: Help maintain documentation for operational processes and tools.
Required Skills/Abilities/Profile:
- Foundational Cloud Experience: Some experience with cloud platforms like Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Google Cloud.
- Automation Fundamentals: Familiarity with automation or configuration management tools (e.g., Puppet, Chef, Ansible) is a plus.
- Scripting Skills: Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Ruby.
- CI/CD Basics: Understanding of Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery concepts and experience with build tools like Jenkins is a plus.
- Container Familiarity: Knowledge of or experience with distributed application containers like Docker.
- Problem-Solving Aptitude: A strong desire to automate tasks and a knack for identifying and solving technical problems.
- Eagerness to Learn: A strong interest in growing your DevOps skills and learning new technologies.
Bonus Skills:
- Experience with infrastructure as code tools like CloudFormation or Terraform.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes.
- Experience working in an Agile development environment.
- Exposure to monitoring and logging solutions (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, SumoLogic).
- Understanding of application deployment patterns.
