We are seeking a Director to join our Building Consulting team in San Francisco / the Bay Area. This is a unique opportunity for an entrepreneurial, highly driven person with a well-rounded skill set, whose responsibilities extend beyond those of traditional project managers and estimators. The ideal person will need a strong grasp of property damage evaluation and be flexible and a strategic thinker.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Minimum 8-10+ years of estimating experience in restoration, insurance, and remediation.
- Responsibilities for estimating large commercial complex losses.
- Experience with reconstruction projects, roofing, or equivalent fields.
- Experience with appraisal, mitigation, cost analysis, and disaster recovery.
- Strong experience with large loss Insurance Adjusters in construction.
Job Responsibilities:
- Evaluate the impact of disasters (floods, fires, storms) on structures and environments.
- Assess risks, vulnerabilities, and potential damage to determine preventive measures.
- Minimize damage during emergencies; deploy resources, coordinate evacuations, safeguard infrastructure.
- Oversee day-to-day project operations, ensuring deadlines and quality standards.
- Allocate resources (labor, materials, equipment) efficiently.
- Coordinate with teams, manage schedules, and troubleshoot issues.
- Interface with clients (adjusters, brokers, insureds).
- Schedule and perform field inspections to evaluate scope of work/damage.
- Estimate medium to large commercial and residential projects using Xactimate.
- Document, review, and analyze schedules, contracts, change orders, correspondence, reports.
- Provide technical direction to other consultants.
- Collaborate with Business Development Managers to develop new business.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Associate degree (or 8-10 years of experience).
- Relevant experience in restoration contracting with insurance companies.
- Proficiency in Xactimate, Symbility, RS Means or similar software.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word, strong communication skills.
- Valid driver's license, good driving record.
- Strong project management skills, analysis, and critical thinking.
- Detail-oriented, ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong independent work ethic, leadership and customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- IICRC degrees/credentials/certifications
- RRO, PMP, or other certifications
Physical and Mental Qualifications:
- Ability to wear PPE, conduct inspections, carry equipment.
- Able to climb ladders, write reports.
- May be exposed to UV radiation, radon, or air pollution.
- Availability for on-call, weekend or night work.
- Willingness to travel locally, regionally, and for CAT response.
