About the Position At KIPP, we believe achieving our mission starts by supporting students to become strong mathematicians. We believe learning math isn't just about academic excellence; it's about being able to access and reflect on the world around you. As a Director of Mathematics, you will partner with regions to create lasting systems and implement all One KIPP K-12 Math initiatives, including 100% implementation of the Imagine IM Curriculum. You will drive regional student-centered goals for students to be college-ready.
Responsibilities Include supporting KIPP regions' Math and Instructional Leaders in building effective regional professional learning and academic systems. This involves 1:1 check-ins, facilitating Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), and conducting formal professional development.
Curriculum and Assessment Maintain and manage the implementation of a comprehensive AP-aligned high school math curriculum (Imagine IM/Carnegie). Support the execution of our One KIPP high school assessment strategy, including administering assessments, diagnostics, and college readiness exams (e.g., AP, ACT, SAT). Develop instructional coaching tools and resources.
Professional Development Develop and co-facilitate monthly professional development for regional and high school academic leaders. Sessions will be rooted in evidence-based practices. Support regional leaders in the strategic planning process.
Regional Coaching Coach regional leaders to develop strong coaching skills for curriculum implementation and teacher development. Partner with 3-4 regions to build or refine their high school math systems (e.g., talent, curriculum, assessment, coaching).
Key Skills Strong math instructional and coaching expertise, knowledge of culturally relevant teaching practices, a proven track record in student outcomes, proficiency in professional learning and coaching techniques, and experience managing complex projects. Candidates should also be able to consistently set and achieve ambitious goals, develop teammates' skills, and make data-informed decisions.
