We are seeking a Director, Software Engineering to lead the technology strategy, planning, design, and development of key initiatives within the Marketplace domain of Experian Consumer Services. You are an engineer at heart—someone with a proven track record of building cloud-native platforms, working across a broad range of technologies, and evolving from hands-on engineering roles into a well-rounded, strategic leader. You will collaborate closely with Product Managers, Architects, and cross-functional engineering teams to deliver high-quality, scalable, cloud-based solutions as we build our next-generation Marketplace platform.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the sizing, architecture, design, development, and testing of key programs within Marketplace Engineering.
- Guide the development of technical solutions that are scalable, high-performing, and built with a strong emphasis on quality and maintainability.
- Lead a globally distributed team of engineers, driving hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management while fostering continuous feedback, skill development, and career growth to build and retain top talent.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, product management, and the PMO to align on product roadmaps and quarterly planning.
- Ensure stable and efficient production operations with a focus on uptime, performance, and reliability.
- Be hands-on when needed, encouraging innovation and experimentation with emerging technologies to drive platform evolution.
- Represent engineering in executive forums, providing clear and concise updates on progress, risks, and strategic initiatives.
- Oversee engineering budgets, resource planning, and vendor relationships to optimize delivery and operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory standards across all engineering initiatives.
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure engineering effectiveness, delivery velocity, and system health.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role managing teams.
- Proven experience designing and delivering scalable, cloud-native systems using containerized environments and orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes, ECS).
- Deep understanding of microservices architecture, event-driven systems, data pipelines, and modern backend frameworks.
- Familiarity with Server-Driven UI (SDUI) patterns and GraphQL APIs for dynamic, flexible front-end integration.
- Strong grasp of software design principles, architecture patterns, and engineering best practices, including test-driven development and CI/CD.
- Hands-on experience with security-first design and implementation in cloud environments.
- Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and inspire geographically distributed engineering teams.
- Passion for innovation, mentoring, and fostering a culture of learning and excellence.
