Data-driven, engaging, collaborative, and growth-focused professionals. Transitioning to renewable energy requires large-scale energy storage. Seeking a Director of Tax to join the Accounting Team.
Responsibilities:
- Lead strategic tax planning & implementation across development, construction, and operational portfolios.
- Provide strategic counsel on tax implications of business decisions (M&A, project development, restructuring).
- Optimize utilization of renewable energy tax incentives (ITC, etc.).
- Assist Project Finance team in structuring tax-efficient renewable energy deals (tax equity partnerships, hybrid deals).
- Oversee preparation & filing of federal, state, and local tax returns.
- Manage tax provisions & supporting documentation for financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with tax equity partnership requirements & reporting obligations.
- Build and lead high-performing tax team, providing mentorship.
- Collaborate with Finance, Legal, Development, Commercial, and EPC teams.
- Manage relationships with external advisors, auditors, and investors.
- Present tax matters to executive leadership and board.
- Monitor and analyze tax legislation affecting renewable energy.
- Assess and mitigate tax risks.
- Lead tax due diligence for acquisitions/divestitures.
- Manage tax authority audits.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA required.
- Master's degree in Taxation or Law degree preferred.
- 10+ years progressive tax experience with renewable energy sector exposure.
- Deep understanding of renewable energy tax incentives and project finance.
- Strong technical skills in federal/state tax compliance/reporting.
- Proven leadership experience.
- High business acumen, discretion, and professionalism.
- Big 4 public accounting background preferred.
- Renewables/Power & Utilities experience preferred.
- Knowledge of international tax planning preferred.
- Collaborative and effective cross-functional teamwork.
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
