Position Overview: The Distributed Generation Demand Response Lead develops and executes strategies for deploying distributed energy resources (DER), such as on-site natural gas generation and energy storage systems. Key responsibilities include leading cross-functional projects, managing deliverables, collaborating with tenants and utility partners, and implementing demand-side management strategies and demand response programs.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies for deploying distributed energy projects (natural gas generation, energy storage).
- Lead cross-functional efforts, outlining deliverables, defining analyses, directing resources (internal/external), and taking responsibility for final work.
- Understand and collaborate with tenants and utility partners to implement demand-side management strategies, including participation in demand response programs.
- Support the development of backup micro-grid strategies to meet emissions/capacity requirements for campus projects.
- Coordinate with utilities on load letters, ramp schedules, and utility process documentation.
- Support finance/account management for accurate utility billing (multi-tenant/landlord-controlled).
- Support selection and oversight of utility billing management systems.
- Develop/maintain a database of utility rates/tariffs.
- Assist in structuring retail energy contracts.
- Develop and grow relationships with peer energy managers/industry contacts.
- Stay informed on industry trends, policy changes, and technology advancements.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, policy, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional teams, including internal resources and consultants.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering distributed energy solutions.
- Demonstrated understanding of current power market issues (utility economics, DER integration, alternative regulatory policies, etc.).
- 7+ years of experience in DER-related power industry roles.
- Experience analyzing/optimizing operational considerations for natural gas/electric utility rates/tariffs.

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Strong business ethics (protecting proprietary/confidential information).
- Ability to work with all levels of staff, clients, and vendors.
