Job Details
Canvas is revolutionizing the remodeling, architecture, and interior design industry with cutting-edge AI and computer vision technology. We use LiDAR-enabled iPhone or iPad scans to capture precise 3D home models with accurate measurements. Our proprietary process transforms these scans into detailed, editable as-built files in industry-standard formats.
We are seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead and grow our 3D Visualization and Tooling team. Reporting directly to the VP of Engineering, this role involves developing advanced measurement and modeling tools using computer vision and machine learning algorithms.
Responsibilities:
- Build interactive web tools for converting 3D scans into CAD models, focusing on 3D UX, mesh operations, and CV/ML automation.
- Develop a customer-facing 3D visualization web application allowing customers to view scans, models, and take measurements within the iOS app and web portal.
- Ensure system scalability, reliability, and automation for high-volume 3D scan processing.
- Manage and grow the team: conduct performance reviews, provide coaching, facilitate professional growth, and hire new team members.
- Drive team execution: run daily stand-ups, planning sessions, retrospectives, and collaborate closely with the product manager and other engineering teams.
Requirements:
- Strong communication skills (written and spoken English).
- Team management experience and strong leadership skills (agency, problem-solving, collaboration, customer focus).
- Strong technical expertise in 3D, web, and general software engineering.
- Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, Three.js, GLSL (or other shader languages).
- Understanding of graphics pipelines, 3D math, and complex geometries/algorithms.
- Experience building with WebGL, including custom modifications.
- Knowledge of software system design best practices.
- Ability to work across multiple time zones and cultures.
Nice to Haves:
- Front-end experience (React, Vue, etc.).
- 3D software experience (Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp, Revit).
- BIM specifications knowledge and CAD geometry conversion experience (IFC, SKP, etc.).
- Computer Vision and Machine Learning experience.
- Backend experience (Python, Django).
